Funding for Continued Payments of Stipend for Batch A&B on Course: There may be hope at the end of the tunnel for the exited Npower volunteers as the Senior Special Assistant to the Humanitarian and Disaster Minister on Media and Publicity disclosed plans of what 2021 hold for the National Social Investment programme

Late Friday night, unconfirmed circulating the internet, had it that, the Federal Government will continue to pay exited beneficiaries of batch A and B stipends from 2021, though it was not confirmed from any of the national dailies

Ramatu Umar, the Senior Special Assistant to the Humanitarian and Disaster Minister on Media and Publicity hinted plans of funding for the incoming batch C prospective volunteers and how they would fund the continued payment of all enrolled exited volunteers

The Transition programme promised by the Federal government may not come or their may be no functional plan at the moment, hence the continued payment of stipends to avoid mass revolt, as seen with protest lately

Volunteers may be forced to return to their PPA next year as plan to continue paying them may be a month away

420,000,000,000 Billion naira was budgeted for the entire National Social Investment Programme for 2021, with the incoming batch C, the total number of volunteers may clock a million

“The Federal Government has announced continued payment of stipends to N-Power 2016 Batch A beneficiaries and Npower 2018 Batch B beyond the expiry month of June/July 2020.

“A statement issued by Miss Ramatu Umar Senior Special Assistant to the Humanitarian and Disaster Minister on Media and Publicity, on Thursday in Abuja, said funding for the continued payments is contained in the 2021 budget.

“The Senior Special Assistant to the Humanitarian and Disaster Minister on Media and Publicity said, the Federal Government is exploring options to seamlessly move the beneficiaries from the government job programme to positions where they were able to earn a sustainable income.

She said that the transition would be through a plan, designed to enable them become valuable, all-rounded employees, employers or entrepreneurs”
